Officers of Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists take oath of office

The Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ), the largest media federation in southern Philippines, envisioned to uplift the conditions of its members as part of its continuing program and commitment.

CFBJ president Elias Baquero made his commitment during the federation’s 11th General Assembly where he and other newly elected officials took their oath of office. Baquero is on his sixth year as president of the federation.

“As another year commences for CFBJ, it also signals the start of even more tasks and challenges for all of us especially for you, my fellow officers. Let us show our solidarity once more and stand as one as we journey together to the road less traveled,” Baquero said in his message.

Cebu Press Freedom Run 2011 registration ends Wednesday

TODAY is the last day of registration for this Saturday’s Cebu Press Freedom Run 2011. Those who want to join are asked to go to the Sun.Star Cebu central newsroom and sign up with William Rama. Registrants are required to bring IDs of their media outlets. Registration is free.

The run, which is sponsored by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. in cooperation with City Sports Club and Cebu Business Park, will start at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Race packs, including the free race shirt and bib number, will be distributed at the starting line at the City Sports Club starting at 5 a.m.

Only those who show up on Saturday will receive their free race packs.

Only those in list of beat organizations will be allowed to join CFBJ general assembly

All reporters for radio, TV and newspapers who are not in the beat organizations’ lists of members will not be allowed entry to the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists Inc. General Assembly at 11am tomorrow, Sept. 21, 2011 at Laguna Garden Cafe, Ayala Business Center. He or she also cannot receive six Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFLs) and cannot be eligible for cash prizes. Please check with your respective presidents and vice presidents in the beat organization where you belong. Please bring your Visayan Electric Co. power bill and present it to the secretariat in claiming your CFLs.

CFBJ sets up website, social network for Cebu journalists

The Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) has set up its own website that will also serve as online social network for Cebu journalists who are members of the different beat organizations under CFBJ.

The website at CFBJ-Cebu.org will be launched during the CFBJ general assembly at 11 a.m. On Wednesday, September 21, at the Laguna Garden Cage in Ayala Center Cebu.
